There is a trout dam and a bass dam on the premises, plus you have at your disposal the 108-hectare Gubu and 9-hectare Maden dams for fly fishing, which are a short drive from Sandile’s Rest.
Local wildlife is abundant, but you’ll need to be quiet to spot the animals.
Scenic walks through the plantations and indigenous forests will lead you between stinkwood, ironwood, and yellowwood trees, plus at least 80 other tree species, some of which are labelled so that you can look and learn. There are more than 100 bird species to watch out for, including the very special and now very rare Cape parrot. Take a picnic, take a stroll, or take a quick trail run; you choose the pace.
Sandile’s Rest is also located 23 km from central Stutterheim, 36 km from central Qonce, formerly King William's Town, and an easy 1.5-hour drive from East London.
